Where did it all go wrong?!!

Pigs trotters - ah I used to love the gloopy soft skin and also the home made brawn. Half a pigs head slowly cooked with herbs and spices. Once cooled and chopped when cooked and then gently recooked with some seasoning, some good vinegar and finely chopped gherkin, carrot and bell peppers (more colour that taste). cooled and stored in the fridge. It was good to eat with leftover fried potatoes and was a good wholesome meal. I can see the turned up noses now and the thought of how can one eat something like that. Its the same with rabbit and any offal. I love it all but it is so hard to get nowadays. @Tanith

I remember all those goodies from my school holidays when visiting some cousins and my uncle who had his own small holding with a few pigs, chickens, ducks and geese, there was always beautiful nosh about. Aunt Redda was a great cook and uncle Michael used to butcher his meat himself.

@harryflatters, but then Jonathan is your guest, so feet up for him 😂. Dinky does enjoy helping around the house too, and it's a good thing for his future, he'll be able too cook and have a tidy house. We'll there's hope 😁.

Kids miss out on a lot these days due to "health and safety" for example, I could climb trees at school in my days, but now they can't [@Happygirl] and @nabob.

@Pinkaholic79 💖🦄🌺 We used to cycle (on our own) down to a lake to meet friends. We would swim, play, talk and just lay in the sun. We were only 8 and allowed to do this. There might be some older (12 or so) who would make sure that we were safe. However, safety really was left up to us. AND yes. We might fall out of a tree, get into difficulty in the lake, but someone would help us and then scold us. Our parents would scold us whenwe got home. Then we were grounded until we learned what was safe. That usually took a week!

Oh @Tanith the good old days, I used to jump from my balcony to next doors, both balcony didn't have any railing. I walked to my friends house when I was 7, no problems. But now as a parent don't think I'd let my boy do such thing. I'm happy for him trees, ride his bike, but I can't let him go on his own. I'm guessing in a way we were more responsible? Or just learned to be responsible? Now if you see an 8yo in his own riding his bike, it would be a bad thing. So sad. I also sit outside when he plays in the front garden.

Don't you think @nabob , that all of this has reached some sort of fever pitch since the start of the pandemic and again most of it drifted across the pond? All these intellectual thinkers had far too much time on their hands with working from home and feeding their intellect with plonk and pizzas and the way we mums feed our offspring is nobody's business than mums. I do however think that feeding a baby is a private matter and should not be flaunted in public by some mums. The idle upper middle class will have to earn their crust and sit back on their four letters (another short word for posterior) on an office chair and at a desk. @Pinkaholic79 💖🦄🌺

This is where it gets silly and misrepresented. The post office has to advertise for a 'post person'. However, that individual was a 'post lady'.

I am reminded of an episode of New Tricks. A man fell in love with a woman. He changed sex to become a woman, so they were lesbian lovers. If she became a man would they have been prosecuted under now defunct laws? It all becomes too difficult.
