Just wondered if any of you lit a candle in remembrance of those which lost their lives ? We put ours to remember every one who lost their lives ♥ Battery Operated.
Holocaust Memorial Day: National landmarks bathed in purple light to remember the dead.
National landmarks have been bathed in purple light and people lit candles in their windows to remember the millions of people killed in the Holocaust.
The theme of this year's Holocaust Memorial Day, chosen 18 months ago, is "be the light in the darkness"

[@Happygirl] I will be proud if mine turns out as good as the first one.
[@Happygirl] if I feel ok tomorrow I might just try and make a cottage loaf. I used to be able to make a really nice one. If I do I'll take a photo.
[@Happygirl] cooking on a ration book - that reminds me of the very early 50s . Rationing was still in force and I used to go to the shop just down the road and buy bread and hand over the ration book and the shopkeeper would tear out a strip and give me the book back. I must have only been about 4 but it seemed so normal. Lovely bread too - proper cottage loaf.
No we didn't @Happygirl as do not use candles. But we did see it on the news.
Oops I got it wrong @Happygirl , I thought it was today. I would have used a battery one of I had got my days right.
I think it is a bit irresponsible about (lit) candles in windows, especially with net curtains dressing most windows. A bit of a Fire Hazzard but I used my battery-operated one. Just plain, not colour changing, like @Happygirl 's.
We didn't know about the candle but the victims are never far from our thoughts.
We didn't but that doesn't mean that we didn't think about the war victims.
Nope, didn't even know about the candle, don't always listen to the news, just here and there, so may have missed it [@Happygirl]
I saw it on the news yesterday about putting a candle in your window at 8 pm, ours is still burning, well i say burning, we have those that change colors and are battery operated, one in the lounge and one in the front bedroom window.
My late Nanna told me many a tale about those days.
And our candles are for every one who lost their lives in that war.
