Budget supermarket chain Aldi has issued an urgent recall for some of their chicken wrap products over health and safety concerns.
The German grocer has recalled their Eat + Go Chicken & Bacon Caesar Wrap and Eat + Go Chicken & Bacon Caesar Wrap Triple, due to the possible presence of salmonella.
The FSA has warned that symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea, and abdominal cramps.
Only batches from with a May end date are currently affected. No other batches have been confirmed to be affected as of yet.
Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products.

Wow - what a list! Luckily we don't eat any of the foods mentioned. Only buy fresh meat and veg and cook at home. We do have the occasional take away but not very often.

Lidl has recalled more beer as it issued a warning for customers not to drink the affected products.
The supermarket is extending its original recall of Starovice Czech Lager 5.0% to include additional date codes.
The products that are included in the notice contain sulphur dioxide which is not mentioned on the label.
This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and sulphites.
The original recall was for Starovice Czech Lager 5.0% with a best before date of October 16, 2022.
This has now been extended to include all dates up to, and including, December 23, 2022.
Lidl and Tesco urged to check cupboards for rice, chocolate

Strauss Israel is taking the precautionary action of recalling several Elite-branded confectionery products because they may be contaminated with Salmonella.
Tesco is recalling two products from their store - Elite strawberry-filled chocolate 100g and Elite strawberry-filled chocolate 45g.

Lidl - rice
Lidl GB is recalling Taste of Mexico Spicy Mexican Style Microwavable Rice, 250g with Best Before Date 16.07.23 and Batch Code LP42201800135-26 as raised levels of lead were detected in the product.
Lead may influence the nervous system, as well as the hormone system if consumed over a long period of time. If you have bought the product we advise you not to eat it. Instead, return it to a Lidl GB store for a full refund, with or without a receipt.

A friend of mine back some years ago had a chicken tortilla at a cafe and half way through it found that some of it was not defrosted completely. A few years later she had some chicken at a hotel that was partly gone off, had food poisoning and the doctor told her that if she had not been so fit she would have had real problems. So now she will not eat chicken outside of home as she was telling me when we had dinner together one evening.
Where do you get the spare time to source and print those pieces of information? Luckily, we don't eat any of those items. If we fancy 'wraps', I make them myself and the chicken is carefully handled. Cook it, eat it and make sure it is thoroughly cooked through, keep refrigerated and don't leave it exposed at room temperature and never reheat, unless, again thoroughly heated through and eaten right away. Salmonella is only one of the nasty bugs and the worst of all is Compilabacta.
We had a homemade chicken and spinach madras for tea last night and as soon as the chicken filets were defrosted, they were cooked and added 10 minutes before serving, a huge freshly picked young spinach from the veg patch. |Never any leftovers. I always have a pack of 'enchiladas' in the freezer for wraps. @Happygirl

Well, that is one reason why we only ever eat what we make at home and these things are way over priced too.

Salmonella fears spark recall of over 100 products from Aldi, Waitrose, M&S, Sainsbury's, and more
More than 100 products containing chicken are being recalled from major supermarkets, convenience stores and cafรฉ chains because of fears they might be contaminated with salmonella. Cranswick Country Foods, which supplies to retailers, has made the recall, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) said in an official alert.
Cranswick Country Foods are recalling several products containing chicken because salmonella has been found in some of the chicken used to manufacture these products," the agency said. "As a precaution additional products are also being recalled whilst investigations continue."
The recall covers 111 products and lines, including items such as sandwiches and wraps sold by Aldi, Tesco, Waitrose, M&S, Sainsbury's, Amazon, Co-op, Shell petrol stations, One Stop, Caffรฉ Nero and Starbucks. The FSA said: "If you have bought the above products, do not eat them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund."

Pret A Manger has removed most of its chicken items from its menu.It is understood Pret A Manger's supplier alerted it to a salmonella risk at one site, prompting the high-street restaurant to make the move as a precautionary measure.
โAs a precautionary measure, weโve temporarily removed the majority of chicken items on our menu due to a potential food safety risk at one of our suppliers," a Pret A Manger spokesperson said.
"We hope to have these products back in shops soon. We apologise for any inconvenience.โ
