Thought I'd start a new thread as I hate having to go to the end of one to find out what's been happening.
Anyway the saga continues..... As I said previously on Wednesday at 10.45am I ordered my beautiful 5 seater corner rattan sofa - with small coffee table. Later that day - just to celebrate - I slipped and fell over - sat there under the ironing board, washing and airer for a few minutes making loud screaming noises. Flotson saunters in and starts talking to me about something about science stuff, doesn't seem to notice that I am sat on the floor under a pile of metal stuff. Finally got him to stop ranting on and to move some of the stuff off me so that I could get up. I sat for another 5 minutes before I could manage to stand, by which time Flotson has disappeared again. Luckily I was not seriously hurt just a few bruises which came out one at a time over the next day or two.
Feeling sorry for myself didn't go out into the garden to measure up the space needed for the new sofa. Had until Tuesday to sort all that out.
On Thursday at exactly 10.37am the doorbell rings - Flotson said that there was a very large delivery van outside. Answered the door expecting to have to say I can't take deliveries for the neighbours. Very nice man who tried very hard to explain that there was a very, very large crate for me. I said go away I am not expecting a delivery until Tuesday at the earliest - I had been checking the online delivery tracker. In the end I agreed to at least go and look at the crate. Well it did have my name and address on all the documentation but the name of the sender didn't mean anything to me. We agreed that I could rip open a corner of the container - which I did. Lo and behold and stuff like that - there was my new sofa. He unloaded the pallet - I signed for it and he left.
There on my drive was my new sofa - delivered just a couple of minutes under 24 hours! I've opened the box and it seems that everything is there and I have taken it all piece by piece - weighs almost nothing so it was easy for me to do - into the conservatory.
My problem then was that I hadn't even decided where it was going. I have been frantically marking out the area and decided to make a start digging up plants and weeds. After a while I thought this is going to take weeks at my rate of progress. Never mind I have lots of weed killer and a pressure sprayer in the shed. Can't find the weed killer and the pressure sprayer seems to have something missing as it won't spray.
Had to go and have my eyes tested yesterday - just need slightly stronger lenses - and tried to buy new sprayer but there are none in Sleaford. Managed to get 2 spray bottles for ยฃ6 and when got home started to spray the weeds. Unfortunately Autolycus kept following me and sniffing the places I had sprayed. I chased him off but he came back and started to roll in the stuff. Had to sponge him down hopefully to make sure he wasn't ill. He seems to be OK. I had to make sure that everywhere I sprayed was covered so he couldn't get back at it.
Wow - I do go on don't I? I need to go and check that all the pieces are there and then will have to start clearing again. Also must jet wash the slabs as they are very dirty. Can't have my new sofa near dirty slabs.
I'll tell you more as it happens.........
Anyone know what I can do with the red delivery pallet?
