My internet provider is EE and at the moment I have a TV, internet and phone package from them. Nothing special. Had an email a week or so ago telling me that as from the end of this month they will be discontinuing the TV service and that I would have to go to Internet and phone only.
Have looked at all my options and have decided to buy a Freeview box that will record programs. I bought it today and hope it gets delivered soon. Deliveries are slow due to virus, etc. The box will record 4 programs at any one time and let me watch another. It will record up to 1,000 hours of standard TV - which is good for us as Rob likes to record series and then binge watch them. All the channels that we want are on Freeview - neither Rob or myself are interested in sports.
I have now got to decide which is the best package for landline anytime phone calls and internet.
That's only the beginning of the month. When I get this sorted out I must start to look for a new laptop.
There are lots of birthdays this month too - more expense. I am a grinch sometimes.
Just had the cooker cleaned and the boiler serviced and the oven thermocouple replaced. Will have to pay for that tomorrow.
Think I might need to take out a mortgage and get a job! lol
There's another expense too - but I can't remember what it is. No doubt a hefty bill will land on the doormat - of goody it can't do that - there's no doormat!
Oh - just remembered what it was - the council tax is due - but not until next month,
Good job I can't go out - can't afford to anyway.
Nothing to do with that - why is the Google logo painted over on my screen?
Oh I can see now - it's a dragon. Bit weird. Forgot it is St David's Day today.

I shall have a look about on the net @harryflatters. My oven is an electric fan oven, integrated with the door folding down and sliding under for easy access but the access is not easy to get at to clean the oven roof. It's a NEFF. The Service/maintenance contract has just been renewed but all I got from "CURRYS" is, "due to the lockdown and Covid 19, all valet services are suspended. So, I am fuming and not a very happy bunny.
I don't know how my TV lot works @Flossy ๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง. I have a digital aerial on the roof and my TV has built-in Freeview but it does not record and store programs, I think it needs something extra but I am happy with what I got. The freezing and pixelating could have something to do with the signal reception. Mine occasionally goes off completely and the 'LG' cube goes round & round with a little note 'no signal' and rights itself again in seconds. Sometimes, it's the weather.
For landline phone with an answerphone, callblocker and call minder, infinite internet and two mobile phones with unlimited text and calls cost me with BT,
ยฃ69.53 per month. I am happy with it but like you, I have to book the annual boiler servicing. I tried to chase up Currys for the oven valet service but they fobbing me off with the covid lockdown excuse. I had just renewed the flipping contract. Who or what firm did you use to get your appliance cleaned and serviced?
@Flossy ๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง you will save money in the long term by not having to pay for tv, especially if you get a good broadband deal.
Yes, at least there is the two month 'holiday' from Council Tax - think ours is going up something like 4% next year. I do hope Rishi doesn't increase taxes yet. We know it will have to come but I don't think now is the time. We've got a Freeview box and it's good to have. You may find, @Flossy ๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง that it 'freezes' - ours does periodically! We unplug the mains supply for a few seconds, plug it back in and off it goes again!! Thought it was just us but Mark has got a much more expensive 'bells and whistles' box and it does just the same!! Anybody else get this happening?
Gosh, and if you were going out, you'd spend more money! Hehe, lucky no council tax for 2 month eh? @Flossy ๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง
