The news the world has been waiting for..... I'm going to have a free singing lesson, to see how I get on. Monday. Online. How good is that?
I used to sing in church choirs, Bournemouth Symph. and Salisbury musical society, but my voice disappeared many years ago, to be replaced by a tuneless grunt, so we'll see what she can do. I used to sing in operas and stuff, too. Well, Gilbert & Sullivan, who I hate, but I was press-ganged. Weirdly, this was 46-ish years ago in Blandford, near where I've moved back to. Teacher is in Crawley or some other foreign part.
So looking forward to it. I used to love it. I remember Verdi's Requiem in Salisbury cathedral where I actually had hackles creeping up my spine! Sadly, I left that choir, as being an atheist, I couldn't continue performing in a church. Shame. Love religious music.
Nothing wrong with me or the vocal chords, so nothing to worry about.๐
Sounds like you have been doing well then @duchess to get such praise ๐ well done. And what a lovely view you have there.
Singing's getting better. She made me cry the other day - moi - Ms Hard-as-nails! - by saying there was a "lovely voice" in there somewhere. Mind you, I'm paying her now ,so she has to be kind. It is good to feel it coming back, though, even though I only sing in the kitchen, looking at the view......
I've sent you a message on here @duchess let us know how you got on with your singing - will your album be out soon?
The really annoying thing is that my uncle, a Prof of Music at the Royal Academy and Conservatoire of Music in Sydney, was chorusmaster at the R. Opera House and NEVER took me to hear opera or involve me in any way, even though my mother banged on about my nascent voice, in my teenage years. I could have been Pavorotti or someone.......sod ding relatives.....๐ค
@duchess I hope you are going to let us hear your dulcet tones.
The great thing about singing in a cathedral is the atmosphere and sound. I was at a roman theatre and it is amazing that you drop a coin in the centre of the stage and actually hear it hit the ground even at the top of the seating.
Not really a G&S fan. More a G&T.
Brilliant go for it @duchess
Hope you enjoy it, would love to know how you get
You really are a talented lady @duchess ๐ do let us know how you get on.
Talented lady that you are, you'll have a great time! X
