The pet taxi arrived at 3.15 and Lorraine opened the back of her van. Two cages to the left and right and a large area in the middle with a running rail under the roof. Patty had the carpeted middle area to herself and she had an extra rug to rest on. She was hooked to the above rail with plenty of room to sit or lie down and watch us in the front. For the first time, she was not stressed.
The procedure at the vets was as follows, upon arrival patty's name was called from outside the main reception area. I got a beeper and the receptionist explained that the beeper goes off when the vet is ready to see Patty. He came outside and we discussed the problem and a return visit is booked for the coming Friday. She had a cyst which must have started some time ago and turned into an abscess. Two types of anti-biotic tablets for a week and another visit. Her health for a 12-year-old is good, Her teeth are fine as well, no plaque removal needed, no heart murmurs and her weight is 27.5 kg, which is acceptable for her size but she seems a bit short of breath and the vet thinks it has to do with the abscess and where it is situated. On the whole, Patty is doing fairly well and I am relieved and £76 lighter.
Only one problem, clever Patty can smell the tablets in her food. They are tiny ..., so I opened a tin of pink salmon and as a special treat, tabs are hidden amongst and she is taking them twice daily.

Hope she'll be ok, @renatew5😺🐶 . I am surprised by all of you on here who have not been able to do anything during the past year! I have bought a car, sold one, had it repaired, gone shopping (admittedly only food), but supermarkets - and Lidl obviously! The only thing not done is my hair and toe nails. My hair has gone from highlights to white and dark grey and I rather like it. And cheap - £107 down to £37 just for a cut and even that's not cheap. Perhaps Dorset is different, apart from the nutters on the beaches last year. Oh, Chris had to stop fishing last year and shooting was a bit patchy. Otherwise, Netflix rules!
Sorry, I seem to have hijacked Patty's thread. On the subject of insurance, I dumped PetPlan on Cairo the cat. I now use Healthy Pets (I think) and they are cheap and good. Just put in a claim for some rat bites....... @Tanith
It is amazing how much money we spend on our pets. However, it is far less than the money spent on children. Worry on the other hand ....
Oh @renatew5😺🐶 , i am so pleased for you, and i think £76 was well worth it too, those abscess's can be painful and turn quite nasty you know but they are hard to see under a lot of fur.
Yes we have to be very inventive how we get them to take their tablets ha haaaa, i used to crush and roll them up in a piece of chicken breast, a thick bit, but you know every animal it works differently with, some are more craftier than others and just KNOW what you are up to, i think they can read our minds at times !
Please do give a lovely gentle hug from us please. and
WELL DONE
May try that with my cat Joker when it's deworming time @renatew5😺🐶.
I always get 2 small tins from Lidl if it is in stock. It does not cost the earth. I also kept a tin sardines in tomato sauce. The smell covers the the smell of the medication and there is no stress for Patty or me. @nabob @harryflatters @Pinkaholic79 💖🦄🌺 @roz @Happygirl
Glad Patty is okay, glad you found a way to get the tablets down for her. I would love to have a tin of pink salmon, we used to have it on high days and holidays!!!😂
Glad patty is ok, well done for getting the tablets down her @renatew5😺🐶. What a treat with pink salmon.
Glad you are getting the tablets down Patty ok and that it's nothing serious.@renatew5
