Just popped in to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
I'm just glad that this year is nearly over and am looking forward to 2022. It's been a strange year - not one to remember. Just hope that things will be better for us all in 2022.
This year seems to be ending on a typical note. I placed a big order - including my turkey and lamb for Xmas and New Year dinners - did it back in the middle of November just to make sure everything would be in stock. Have been adding to it every week and yesterday late afternoon I completed my order and had confirmation that everything would be delivered.
Had a text at 6 am this morning to tell me that some items were out of stock and even worse my card had refused to make payment and if I want my reduced order I will have to go instore and pay again.
Not good - am tempted just to cancel but there are so many essential items on there that I will have no choice other than go in store to pay. Embarrassing as well. Have checked and there is still another ยฃ3,000 credit available. Can't have put in the wrong number as it is saved.
Sorry - gloom and doom moment - came on here to say hello to everyone and let you know that I will be back chatting in the New Year. I hope that everyone is ready for a great Christmas and healthy too. Have got hundreds of unread notifications so have not got time or energy to read what you have been upto while I have been away.
I hope this does not offend anyone - but it is my favourite Xmas song at the moment.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
xxxxxx Flossy

I know that there are members listed above who are no longer part of our group, but I thought I'd include them this last time and soon I will update our membership list.

@Flossy ๐ง๐ง and @Flotson wishing you both a very Happy Christmas and all the best for 2022.
When I was in hospital having my appendix removed one Sunday evening in 1998. I had lunch on the Monday, one slice of cucumber, one slice of tomato, one lettuce leaf and a single grate of cheese. When I saw the surgeon that afternoon, I asked if I could go home as I would starve if I could not have a decent meal (I had a friend bring in a carrier bag full of spinach from the garden and 300g of smoked salmon, a tray of peppers and tomatoes from the greenhouse and a loaf of granary bread, fresh from the breadmaker). I also had some roquefort cheese, but no butter. By the time the surgeon said I could leave, Tuesday morning, all had been eaten.
The surgeon was amazed at what had been brought in and surprised that I had eaten it all. I told him that it gave me a reason to live! I told him that the total cost of everything given to me was less than ยฃ10! He told me that the hospital was limited to ยฃ1 per patient per day! I explained that without the smoked salmon we were talking of a similar figure.
Just an update on my shop today. The automatic car key wouldn't open car - had to take the manual key out of the fob and open the door with it. The loudest alarm I have ever heard screamed at me - I opened the door and whatever I did I could not stop it, I tried locking the door and unlocking it about ten times and nothing would stop the alarm. I sat in the car and threw the key fob at the dashboard and that stopped it. It then took me another 15 minutes to start the car - what do you do when the key battery is dead and there is nowhere to insert a manual key? I sat in the car and manually locked the doors and opened them again and eventually a key shape lit up on the dashboard - good I thought now it will start. But no it wouldn't - I just kept retrying pressing the start button. Nearly an hour after I went out to the car it suddenly started. I was on the verge of phoning a taxi as that was the only way I was going to be able to collect my Aldi order. Drove to Aldi without incidence - but then had to switch off engine to go into store to sort out payment. Managed to lock the car with the key without setting off the alarm. Then had another half hour sorting out order which they had to unload from nine crates onto the conveyor belt and pass through the check out - losing along the way all the 'special offers' I had picked out. It was then loaded back into the crates and taken to the car. I dreaded opening the doors - but for no apparent reason the doors opened without incidence. The food was loaded into the boot and back seat and then I started the engine - er actually no I didn't start the engine it just refused. After another 20 minutes of trial and error the engine suddenly burst into life - nearly gave me a heart attack. I decided not to go to the pharmacy to collect my prescriptions - I couldn't face anymore. I drove straight home and intend to stay in here forever! Meals on wheels? Do they still do them? I will never ever again have a car with so called intelligent keys.
Rant over. Hope it is the last for this year.
Lovely to hear from you Chrissy. I hope you manage to have a good Christmas regardless of the on line shopping. See you in 2022. ๐
and a happy Christmas to all my readers!!
Have a lovely quiet Christmas @Flossy ๐ง๐ง blossom and also @Flotson , I was going to ring you tomorrow, but will leave you in peace ha ha, we miss you so much โฅ
Two great Christmas songs, in my opinion, both have to share 1st place on my Christmas song list.
I am sorry about your experience with the home delivery service of your Christmas food list @Flossy ๐ง๐งand not the availability of certain items. I am now at the stage where shopping becomes a chore but I still persevere, slowly does it. Some items which are not in stock, we do without. No goose or turkey for us this time, we don't like Turkey and the goose makes the oven messy but I have two beautiful plumb ducks, a large leg of lamb and a lovely rib of beef joint in the freezer, mostly courtesy of Lidl. On a weekly basis, I got everything we would like for an enjoyable foodie Christmas. The only item I was unable to get, was some 'Riesling', German semi-dry white wine. Non-essential, because it is only me that likes it.
Just checked, the pastry for the next batch of mince-pies is ready to be rolled out for the final batch.
So I wish you @Flossy ๐ง๐ง and @Tanith and @Janet ๐๐ฐ๐๐น @Happygirl
@Pinkaholic79 ๐๐ฆ๐บ @roz @nabob @harryflatters and everyone else,
A VERY MERRY HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND A HEALTHY HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!!!
@Flossy ๐ง๐ง @Tanith Great Christmas songs.
It is one reason why I do not like buying food online. If they did not have ONE significant item, then I would have to go to the store to hopefully pick that up. Along with substitutions, quality of fruit and veg, surliness of drivers and the issue of taking double amounts on the card, I do it myself. Everything in.
Merry Christmas to everyone.
How about listening to this, for something 'humorous' - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgIwLeASnkw . I just laugh at possibly the worst Christmas song ever. It is either the worst, or actually good.
