Asda currently selling litre bottles of Tanqueray Export Strength (43.1% abv) for £20. That's £5 off their normal retail price (which itself is pretty good for this excellent gin!) - fill your boots, boys and girls!!
I only started liking G&T, tried it with lemonade, but not quite the same. So far I like orange gin, pink gin, and a berry one. Will be trying different flavours.
The Bombay Sapphire Gin comes in a blue glass bottle and tasted neat has a hint of sweetness to it and next to it in taste is Lidl's Hortus Botanic Gin. Any other makes like Gordons and others have a sort of scented taste in my opinion.
'niceguy's, (may he rest in peace and still remembered) widow collects rare gins and probably has a good many with rare names but not for drinking. Some people collect rare wines and my hubby used to collected rare single malt Scottish whisky. @Pinkaholic79 💖🦄🌺@harryflatters
I'm more for the fruity flavours of gin @renatew5😺🐶, I don't own a bottle as don't really drink at home, fruity cider or G&T are my Sunday treat if I go to the pub. I'll have a glass of wine if and when I go to restaurants, or a meal at inlaws.
@Pinkaholic79 💖🦄🌺 I don't go out anymore to pubs or any other venues. It used to be a regular weekly thing and always on a Wednesday. Alas, I am the last of the awesome foursome. One spinster and three widows. The single lady looks now after her older sister on the other side of Birmingham and my other two friends have passed on. We used to go for lunch at the Britannia hotel and to quite a few pubs to savour their foods and special meal deals but now, on my own, it would not be suitable. On the rare occasion when I fancy a little tipple, I put my feet up on my trusty pouffe and have a sip whilst watching something on TV. In-laws are far and few, just two sister-in-law's, both are staying close to home and we are in contact by phone and e-mail. I am alone but not lonely. @Happygirl
I love a nice G & T with an iced (frozen) lemon slice, which does not water this lovely beverage down. All this year, somehow, I was not in the mood for anything alcoholic. In contrast to my son John (lazybones), after losing his last job, he passed the time away in filling the recycling bin with empty beer cans on a fortnightly basis. It put me off even looking at anything alcoholic.
Still, I won't have to hunt for anything to flavour my cake and mince pies. Alas, both items will be short of some ingredients, like glace cherries and mixed peel but from my secret hoard I have a choice of rum, brandy or whisky to give the cake and pies some oomph. The first job today is the hunt for my recipe for homemade mincemeat which probably will need some adjustments. @harryflatters@Happygirl @Flossy 🧁🧁
I still have 3/4 litre of Bombay Sapphire from last year in my hidey-hole.
Not for me either, but in saying that @harryflatters , then I see their orange Beefeater gin is down to £14.00 instead of £17.00, shame I have already brought my son theirs already. But well done for you if you like it :)
