There's a new Co-op shop at the other side of Sleaford. I went there yesterday on a banana hunt. There was a self with about 10 bunches but they were far too ripe for me to eat. I was just turning round to leave when a lady came round the corner carrying a new box of bananas. I chatted with her while she sorted out 2 big bunches of the greenest for me.
I then carried on looking at the fruit and veg. Someone forgot tell the co-op about the fruit and veg shortage. Got apples, mushrooms, lovely big courgettes, potatoes and other stuff. Not more than I usually use.
Got to the tills - There were none, only 5 self service screens. Scanned and paid in just a few minutes. After initial shock - I am quite pleased with the experience.
Cash not an option - cards only.
Is this a subtle way of introducing a cashless society?
So pleased you finally found the bananas @Flossy ๐ง๐ง๐ง our Lidl now limits only 3 of one item. Went there for the first time on a Sunday since last year and was pleasantly surprised that we can now go in at 9.30 to shop before the tills open at 10.00. As I have the app on my phone I had a voucher of ยฃ5 off a spend ยฃ25 or over and discount on Manuka honey. I also get one free bakery item until next Sunday.
