Just booked my flu jab at the chemist for the first time this year, and so wanted to remind you all about the importance of 'getting in there now' before they are all fully booked.
I asked the receptionist at our Dr's when ours are going to start and this is the reply i got back from her.....
' I really don't know anything about this years Flu vaccinations here at all, you can ask at the chemist ' and so i nicely asked her ' thank you, do you know when they were starting at the chemist and when i should phone them up please' whereas she replied....' I haven't got the time to discuss this with you ' and hung up !
She didn't know who i was, i could have been an aged confused person who was very politely asking a question. Talk about off putting, I know they are under immense pressure but surely to be polite does not cost anything
DISGUSTING , and they say that ' we ' the patients are the rude ones.

We had this discussion last evening at PPG (patient participation group) mtg. The surgery had put a "don't be rude to the staff" notice up and someone in the group dared to say that the receptionist was rude first! When I was in that position in any job and especially in the Samaritans, my reaction is to be overwhelmingly polite. Stuns people into submission!
I booked our flu vaccinations yesterday, after a text, no probs. Against my better judgment, mind. My first one ever was last year, so guess I'd better do it again. My objection is that it's based on last year's virus, if you're lucky. My surgery ordered ours for 2022 on Monday! So I asked about that aspect of it and the response was that hopefully they don't start manufacturing until nearer the time; we only put an order in for whatever it is at the time. Lucky to say that my surgery in Dorset won a prize in 2019 for the best surgery in the uk. It is, actually. We are very lucky. Mind you, my malarky over my kidney transplant just gets better and better. [2.25 years trying to get the NHS to do their thing in a timely manner]. I should be in hospital for Crimbo, which I have specially requested, assuming all goes well and I get a match in Oct., as it saves me having to be nice to people at Christmas. I'm sure Chris will find someone in the village to take him in!
Flu Jab - update. Just had text changing my jab date - now it's Sunday 26 September 2021. Maybe they are having problems getting deliveries.
Oh [@Happygirl], there's no over the phone manners, that quite rude, they should be helpful, and I understand how you feel about calling, I felt that way with my dad, all they would say, due to C19 restrictions we can't take visits. So if I remember rightly he had over the phone chat with Dr, not good enough. But persevere, call back, you may get another lady answer, or maybe ask when is it a good time to call?
@Happygirl I think that as you know her name you should report her. There is no excuse for her bad attitude.
My flu jab is next Saturday - I had a text at the beginning of August giving me a link to make an appointment.
Flotson hasn't heard yet. He's in a different group.
@Happygirl I booked an appointment for a flu jab at our doctors last week but my appointment isn't until October 9th and they would only book me if I'd received a text from them (I had) Hubby hadn't had a text (always leaves his phone switched off anyway) so couldn't book. I suppose he'll have to wait for the call.
P/S and i am joking when i say this about people with the same name but
her name was Karen, says it all really ha ha ha ( joking ) I have been watching these videos about ' karens ' and didn't know what it meant when some one called some one a ' Karen ' before but i do now thanks to you tube lol
I am going to be really nervous now when i telephone our Dr's up in the future
