The door bell went and as I opened the door, a young man (well, young to me) was standing there holding a cake box. He said are you Janet? Me: yes.... Him: I am from the Princess Royal Trust for carers. We are going around the area giving Carers a food parcel. Me: looking stunned - Oh thank you very much, what a lovely thing to do. We had a little chat and then he was on his way. I thought there maybe just a few cakes inside... until I opened it up and saw this.... soooo yummy, although we won't eat the meaty bits. I will save them for my garden guys tomorrow.

Thank you everyone. It feels odd us getting a surprise as it is usually us doing it for others. The bakery goods were delicious and those strawberry's were the largest we have had in a while 😋 My neighbours enjoyed the meaty sandwiches and sausage rolls... This reminds me of comments that I made when we were invited to the Lidl Lunch (and at other times). I said to the girls that 'What is really nice is an unexpected surprise'. Subsequently we had everyone trying to sign up for free samples, but just to be offered a surprise shows that one is appreciated. I gave a neighbour some books of stamps (I still do the Royal Mail evaluation, so have hundreds of packs) before Christmas. She was appreciative of them.
