At last, peeps, the kidney is on the way out..... Feb 8th is the day - the day after Chris's birthday, so he's pleased! I'm getting a lift to Portsmouth and he'll collect me a few days later. Never having had surgery, it's all a mystery to me. Chris has just had a wrist in dry dock refitted, so I've seen at first hand what the aftereffects of anaesthesia look like. Apparently they don't do morphine any more. I'm not a fan of hallucinations anyway. So many NHS cock-ups, so hoping the bloke with the knife is slightly more competent! At least someone will benefit in some way. At least, I hope so, after 2.5 years!๐ฃ

What I forgot to mention is the WORST THING!!!! The b*****ds won't let me wear nail varnish. Something to do with dying and they like to see if your nails go blue. I could leave it off one. So, you die with crap nails. What kind of exit is that??
Thank you for sharing all this information @duchess I am so pleased for you that it is finally going to happen after such a long wait.
You are absolutely amazing @duchess - and quite mad of course!! ๐ Thank you for all the info you've given which I had little idea of and found fascinating.
@duchess I think what you are doing is wonderful, I couldn't do it.
You are amazing @duchess . They say that transplant recipients also receive some of the donors personality or traits too. You are amazing, such a fantastic gift you are giving. Hope they enjoy your unique horizon on life. February seems a long time ahead but it's not!! Will you ever find out who the recipient is?
