Tesco warns shoppers not to eat cooking product over fears there could be bits of plastic in it....
Tesco has warned shoppers not to eat a common cooking product as there could be bits of plastic in it. Tesco has recalled its own-brand British Cooking Salt over worries the product contains small pieces of plastic, making it unsafe to eat.
The 1.5kg product has a batch code of 3200 and shoppers are advised to check if they have recently bought this cooking salt. Tesco has said: "We have been made aware that a specific batch of Tesco Cooking Salt 1.5kg may have been contaminated with small pieces of plastic. This could potentially pose a risk if ingested."
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has said if anyone has bought the product, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. No receipt will be required.
In a notice published by Tesco, the supermarket has apologised to its customers for any inconvenience caused by the recall. They say: "Tesco apologised to our customers for any inconvenience caused. If you require further details, please contact Customer Services directly on 0800 505555."
