Just got back from a walk along the breakwater and beach. Went 'winkling' on the rocks there. Picked about half litre and they are being prepared as we speak! Pins poised and vinegar at the ready with hot crusty bread!! If you don't hear from me again you'll know it wasn't one of my best ideas!!😂

I must be missing something here, apart from having been to Blackpool twice and both times it was miserably cold and wet, I have no nice memories of the sea side but I love whelks and also jellied eels with lots of cayenne pepper sprinkled on top. I have had winkles but I always found them gritty. Then again I only know the commercial variety from a pickle jar.
