Sorry I have not been here since Friday morning but we have had our power off since Friday at lunch time until yesterday and so things have been quite hectic here but we are okay and back on now, hope you all survived the storm, it was strange as at the end of our road then the next one had power all of the time, but half of our area did not.
Also meant to say that, hubby was outside in the worst of it all making good our panels ( 4+ hours ) and then the next door's lost one and so he kindly made good that for them too seeing as how he was out there already.
Also our large shed garden window actually got tore out from the bottom hinges, I thought I would never see anything like that in my life time and the felt on the shed was rippling really bad too. Many panels and roof tiles gone here and so much damage in the New Forest too, I sure hope those Ponies and Donkeys were okay
Have a smashing day to one and all

I do understand what you are saying. It is the attitude of certain people who just do not want to be part of the greater society, (a term Mr Cameron loved to use). Why did they come here in the first place? Perhaps it is all the benefits they are reaping, not realising that people like you and me and all other hard-working people paid for it with their taxes, As a pensioner, I moan about the tax I am still paying but in truth, it is for the benefit of society. It is not surprising that a lot of people are resentful towards some who are entering the country now. @Happygirl
It's the little people like us that suffer most in events like this. The well-heeled of course just go into their double garage in their detached homes and crank up the oil or petrol-driven generators and have their lovely log burners keeping them warm. The last two days I was watching "Escape to the Country" in the afternoon, with house prices well above the value of my humble abode. Oh, how the other half lives. We bought this house in 1986 at the price of ยฃ 22 000 and presently it is valued between
ยฃ 195 000 and ยฃ 210 000, perhaps even a little more because of the freehold but I would not get the price because of the type of people that are cash buying and deflating the true value. Enough, it is our home and nobody will drive us away, not even the morons next door. They are busy hacking the furniture of the previous owner to bits that were clean and good for a charity collection, so the less fortunate could make use of it.
I hope both of you are well and make sure your hubby does not overdue the good deeds. @Happygirl
I have been one of the few lucky ones. No power cuts, no structural damages and I really have to praise my gardener because all the maintenance around the 3 fences held firm. We have had a lot of flying rubbish ( mainly black bags, polystyrene boards and cardboard).
I went out yesterday around mid-day, the rain had stopped but the wind was still very strong and twice it nearly pushed me over but very determent I pushed on. At least Lidl was well stocked and on the way back I was stronger than the wind. The heavy trolley was no match for the wind but I was glad to get back indoors.
Has the power been restored yet @Happygirl ? And a WELL DONE!! to your hubby, he truly is still one of the old school and a good friend when needed.
Yes please @Flossy ๐ง๐ง ๐ง๐ง, and I'm pretty sure @dinky08 would love to see them too.
@Happygirl Did I tell you that there are a few donkeys in the field alongside my brother's cabin? I keep asking him to send me photos - will nag him again later in the week.
Gosh @Happygirl what a nightmare! You really suffered. How did you manage for so long without power. Good for hubby being so helpful in a crisis. We didn't get any damage - two of the bins were tipped slightly but not sure if that was just a neighbour making sure they did not get thrown onto their cars. Last Xmas Nic got me a wind spinner and it was going like crazy but all the empty flower pots I have stacked in a corner of the garden were unmoved by the whole storm.
I was going to visit Nic, but as the weather warnings were severe we stayed indoors and I think that was a good decision.
One of my brothers lives in South Wales and his step-daughter posted a photo on facebook to show me how a tree had been torn down just yards from his house. I haven't spoken to him since Thursday so don't know what damage his house might have had. He is living at the moment up in the hills in a cabin - hope they (him and his wife) are OK. He can't get a mobile signal at the best of times and I have to wait until they go shopping and while she goes into Lidl he telephones me and we have a long chat.
@ishka7 I have tagged you in as I think you will want to see Petie's damaged road.
Have you had any bad weather lately?
So sorry you had the power cut @Happygirl I hope you managed to keep warm though. Goodness, that was a lot of damage... well done to your hubby too for helping the neighbours.
Oh @Happygirl Sorry you have had to suffer a power cut for such a long time. Gosh, lots of damage to your fence then. These storms have been so fierce, very scary. Hope you were able to keep warm.
I guess it is all good experience, but one I would have rather missed ha ha
