So I had to self isolate for 10 days as I'm not jabbed! I was near a lady that I work with, 2 metre/15min rule doesn't apply, apparently it's less than 1 metre 1 min. As she gives me and a friend a lift we were both long enough with her in the car, they're both double jabbed. But the lady that caught the C19 was at fault in the first place, as Friday her son announced he caught it (he lives with his mum), so he was already a carrier. She had a bit of a cough and was stubborn not to go for PCR, and by Monday she felt poorly and still came to work. She definitely wasn't her self, she was coughing more and looked lethargic and snappy. Tuesday she txt she wasn't coming to work and by Wednesday I had a call from work telling me not to come in for 10 days starting monday 8th. I would get a call from Track and Trace and need to do a PCR. Well I never got a call, but went and ordered a PCR, only to find out that it needs to be posted in a special post box! And/or had to arrange a courier. So I gave them a call, after pressing various numbers, I got through to a lady and explained the situation, and she told me that unless I get a call from Track and Trace, or I come back positive with LFT (and I've been doing it since Friday 5th , sometimes twice) there's no need for the PCR and nobody can force me to do so. She said keep the packet for whenever needed. Now, by the looks of it the PCR is not much different to the LFT, they both have swabs and some liquid stuff. The LFT has this thing you put the liquid in that gives you the result within 30min, and PCR hasn't but it needs to be sent back. Maybe they test it differently, I don't know and the results are pretty much the same, so I was told.
Funny enough after the the infected lady went to work, some kids had to self isolate too just a couple of days after she'd been in to work, and now there's 16 waiting for results. So in my opinion jab or no jab it's still spreading!
First the vaccine is only 90-95% effective and loses effectiveness over time (that is why there is a booster programme). Even if everybody had the vaccine there would still be people falling ill. Just think. 5% of the population of 75 MILLION is 3.75 million.
As stated the vaccine is to reduce deaths and serious illness requiring hospital treatment, just like the flu vaccine. It is not to remove the possibility of catching the virus.
And yes, the individual was unthinking. Remember all those people who would come into work after Christmas, sneezing and sweating due to flu, because the business would fail if that person was not sitting at their desk. It has always happened, but now it is more serious.
Yesterday the queen went on an informal walkabout after hitting her thumb with a hammer!
Ah, now I've seen the post you referred to elsewhere @Pinkaholic79 ๐๐ฆ๐บ so sorry you've had all that to contend with and do hope it will all be fine soon. As you say, jab or no jab, it will still spread! What is sure that the more who get vaccinated the less likely it is to spread, never mind the personal benefit to the individual - if you are still unlucky enough to catch it (chances much reduced), you will be far less likely to be severely affected or die - it's really as simple as that! As @Happygirl has said, it is saving lives - people who would have died without it are now alive because of it! We need everyone, barring medical exemption, to get vaccinated so we can bring this terrible thing under some sort of control - note I don't say 'get rid of it'! that' s not going to happen I think but with everyone's help we can at least make it manageable and prevent hundreds of thousands more going through the trauma of worry and loss

What ever our own personal thoughts on this, that lady was totally irresponsible for still going to work @Pinkaholic79 ๐๐ฆ๐บ I am pleased we have both had all the jabs at our age though @Happygirl and medical history.
P/S I think that lady was acting quite irresponsibly too. @Pinkaholic79 ๐๐ฆ๐บ by coming to work knowing full well her son had it and she was showing all the signs of it
Yes, @Pinkaholic79 ๐๐ฆ๐บ but it is saving lives, which is the MOST important thing. This time last year we had so many dying from it but not so many now, there is reason behind it Pinky.
So I guess you have much time on your hands now, why not do a bit of baking and show us your culinary skills ha ha, take it easy and have a nice cuppa, Hubby is very sniffly today but wont take a test.
