Was contacted yesterday by text from local surgery to make appointment at Grantham leisure centre. That's a 23 mile journey - not too bad really but as I will have to drive alone I am a bit concerned about getting home if I have a bad reaction. There doesn't seem to be any advice about that - suppose I'll just go and hope for the best.

@nabob I haven't had it yet. As i said in my earlier post...... Good news. I have managed to change my jab appointment to a local surgery in a village just 3 miles away. Next Sunday now. Much better.
It's unfortunate how parents rely on technology to keep kids entertained, but then most are busy parents, they both have to work to manage the bills. Everything is so expensive, I'm lucky at the moment I work two hours a day, ok hubby on furlough at the moment, but in general we can just about cope with our outgoings. So normally after school Dinky is either playing in the garden, park with a friend or two (obv not at the moment) we cook, we bake. He gets either 1 or 2 hours tab playtime. Finally we got new neighbours with 2 kids (7 & 2) hopefully can arrange playdates soon, maybe a cheeky one outside. @harryflatters [@Happygirl] and anyone else interested โค๏ธ
That's good [@Happygirl] at least you can stay safe, did they offer stay home or did you ask? Got confirmation re my dad's vitamin, should arrive within 3 weeks
Not sure if I I have had any benefit from taking vitamin D for 18 months. Initially I was given an absolutely massive dose and it has since been reduced. I take them because of another medication I take which warns that spending time the sun will cause severe sunstroke.
It sure is @Janet ๐๐ฐ๐๐น @roz
Apart from in the press, we haven't heard anything about Vitamin D tablets. In any case, we've both been taking them for about the last year once we understood that older people are frequently quite deficient in it and that it's very important for maintaining a decent immune system. It's got to be a pretty high dose tablet(s) though - does anyone know what dose the tablets supposedly to be issued by HMG are?
That's good @Happygirl glad you'll be able to stay safe. ๐
@Flossy ๐ง๐ง๐๐๐ท hope all goes well. When my Mum and Dad and Father in law and Aunt had the jab they just felt tired after. But it could have been all the excitement of going out!!! x
@margaret.s that's good news.
Free vitamin D and Vaccine at Home......That is brilliant news @Flossy ๐ง๐ง๐๐๐ท , I have just been told that i will be having my vaccination at home, which is a huge relief for us, @nabob @Janet ๐๐ฐ๐๐น @Pinkaholic79 ๐๐ฆ๐บ @Flossy ๐ง๐ง๐๐๐ท @renatew5 @margaret.s @Tanith @harryflatters @andym.aat @roz .
Also just had an email saying they are sorry for the deal but are sending out my VITAMIN D tablets for me .
@Flossy ๐ง๐ง๐๐๐ท &everyone we got the call at teatime. Appointment Thursday afternoon only a 3 mile round trip for us ๐ค
@margaret.sI hope you get an appointment soon. Waiting is very draining .
That's much better for you @Flossy ๐ง๐ง๐๐๐ท we still haven't heard anything but fingers crossed it'll not be much longer.
@Flossy ๐ง๐ง๐๐๐ท what a relief!
That is great news @Flossy ๐ง๐ง๐๐๐ท
Good news. I have managed to change my jab appointment to a local surgery in a village just 3 miles away. Next Sunday now. Much better.
Dear @Flossy ๐ง๐ง๐๐๐ท can't you try and send them an e-mail explaining the situation and perhaps they will change it for another date and closer to you. You could ask Rob to come with you and if you are going to feel unwell, Rob will be able to look after you or get assistance. If you get the vaccine which @harryflatters described, it will be the Pfizer and I too had this type and had to sit and wait for 15 minutes, just a precaution, you will be fine. Think beautiful thoughts.
A 23 mile taxi ride + waiting + return journey would be an arm and a leg, mine luckily was just a 6 mile turnaround. I will be thinking of you and good luck.
I think that they may send letters to try to get you to go to the bigger places. If you wait you might a while you might get a call from your own surgery....or that's how it has seems to have worked round here.....
That is miles away, what happened to the governments promise of only 10 miles and i even THOUGHT that was far enough @Flossy ๐ง๐ง๐๐๐ท
Oh that is good and bad news at the same time @Flossy ๐ง๐ง๐๐๐ท
As I pressed the publish button I heard the post . I have my letter. I've just checked and the nearest available is Blackburn. I know they are doing them in a centre nearer to me than that but it's not on the list. It's a long way to go on public transport so I may keep trying for a nearer one.
I keep watching for the postie but only junk mail up to
Good news about your vaccine appointment, shame you have to go on your own. Fingers crossed all goes well. Hubby 's oldest sister and her hubby have got appointments for Wednesday but only have about 10mile round trip. We're still waiting to hear. ๐
That's a bit far, can't they offer anything closer? Nobody can come with you? @Flossy ๐ง๐ง๐๐๐ท
