Some supermarkets have started rationing fruit and vegetables as shelves continue to remain bare across the UK with the weather and rising wholesale prices responsible for the action.
Asda and Morrisons have begun rationing fruits and vegetables after supermarkets across the UK were hit with empty shelves following supply issues.
Asda now has set a limit of three per person on tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, lettuce, salad bags, broccoli, cauliflower and raspberries.
Morrisons has a maximum of two on tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, peppers.
Many shops are struggling with stock of fresh produce due to cold weather Morocco and Spain.
In the UK, farmers are said to be using heated greenhouses less due to higher energy costs. Frost damage has also written-off many fields growing vegetables.
One factor of inflation is high energy prices caused by Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The rise in fuel costs has made it more expensive to heat greenhouses as well as transport produce.
According to Tim O'Malley, from Nationwide Produce, one of the biggest produce companies in the UK, a box of peppers has jumped from £8-£9 to about £22.
The cost of a box of tomatoes at this time of year has also dramatically risen, currently up from £7-£8 to £14.

Yayyy got some tomatoes and cucumbers this morning, didn't abuse obviously, but will buy some tin tomatos and purè, a couple of ready pasta sauce and ketchup, to put in the cupboard, just in case...
Absolutely no evidence of a shortage of veg or salad stuff at Lidl Polegate this morning. Now that this is being talked about, I'm sure there soon will be!! Of course, Lidl have been rationing a good few things for a while now. Can't remember exactly what it was but I have seen one woman arguing at the check out that she had, indeed, only two items of the rationed product. She had two complete trays of said product!! I've also seen a couple complete one shop and take it out to the car only to return straight back into the store and do another shop, thus doubling up on the rationed items!! For all I know, they might have kept going but I'd gone by then!!
It's not good, at the school where hubby works, there's talk that they may struggle with salad stuff and some veg. It's all madness. We're going to start our lil green fingers soon, may not be much but it will help a little.
I do hope people aren't stocking up too much on perishables, seems such a waste especially if it ends up being thrown away.
Don't stock up myself, I trust that I won't starve (consider the lilies of the field)
Don't know how I'll manage if I am limited to only 3 raspberries! Lol
Seriously though, I am concerned about rationing - I still have a ration card from the early 50s.
Hubby is not happy as he likes a bowl of freshly cut salad with each meal in the evening
